Camp Social Sesh Highlights: My Workouts from an All-Women’s Camp Weekend

A few months ago, I shared my recap of my first all-women’s adult camping experience at Camp Social in the Poconos. You can read the full experience here. As promised in that post, I’m back to highlight my favorite “seshes” (aka workouts and movement-based activities) that I got to experience at camp.

From adrenaline-filled challenges to surprisingly intense “fun” workouts, Camp Social delivered on movement, community, and a lot of laughs.

TL;DR:
Camp Social in the Poconos offers more than just a weekend getaway—it’s packed with fun, full-body workouts disguised as play. From wall climbing and archery to tubing, yoga, and the camp’s own version of the Olympics, every “sesh” challenges both body and mind. Whether you’re stepping outside your comfort zone or laughing through an unexpected ab workout, Camp Social proves that movement is better when shared with a supportive community.

Wall Climbing: Facing Fear (and Feeling the Burn)

For most of us, wall climbing isn’t an everyday activity. At Camp Social, it became less about conquering the wall and more about conquering our nerves.

I had tried wall climbing a few times in my younger years—back when I had better grip strength and proper climbing shoes. Back then, excitement outweighed fear. This time around? Let’s just say soreness and self-doubt kicked in about halfway up.

Even though I didn’t make it to the bell at the top, I had zero regrets. Watching my friend complete the climb was just as rewarding.

💪 Why it’s a workout:
Wall climbing is a true full-body workout. It tests your coordination, grip strength, balance, and mental focus. Every move requires intention—from foot placement to reaching for the next grip.

Archery: Focus, Form, and Respect for the Sport

My biggest concern going into archery was safety—and rightfully so. You are, after all, handling a weapon. Thankfully, the instructors walked us through proper bow-and-arrow handling and provided arm guards to protect us from the string.

If you’re thinking of taking up archery as a hobby, I highly recommend starting with a beginner’s class. You’ll not only learn the safety basics, but also how to properly handle equipment that isn’t yours.

This sesh reminded me why practice matters—and honestly, it made me miss using my own gear.

🎯 Why it’s a workout:
Archery builds upper-body strength, posture, and focus, while quietly challenging your core and patience.

Tubing: Don’t Be Fooled—This Is a Workout

Some people might argue that tubing doesn’t count as a workout—but don’t judge until you try it.

Yes, you’re lying on your stomach on an inflatable… until the speedboat starts moving.

You must hold on tight, or you’ll be dunked into the lake. Between gripping the handles and laughing uncontrollably (my friend and I LOL’d for a solid two minutes straight), we accidentally worked our arms and abs.

🚤 Why it’s a workout:
Tubing is a sneaky full-body workout—arms from gripping, core from stabilizing, and abs from nonstop laughter.

Yoga in the Barn: A Strong, Energizing Flow

The yoga sesh was held in a spacious barn, giving everyone plenty of room to spread out and breathe. One of Camp Social’s sponsors, Tampon Tribe, provided yoga mats—so no need to bring your own.

Since this was the last sesh of the day before heading back to New York, the instructor made sure we left feeling energized, not sluggish. The class was an upbeat vinyasa flow with plenty of core-focused poses.

🧘‍♀️ Why it’s a workout:
This wasn’t a slow stretch session—it was a strength-building, energizing flow perfect for travel day.

Camp Social Olympics: Chaos, Cardio, and Team Spirit

Camp Social’s version of the Olympics is exactly as fun and chaotic as it sounds.

Expect sprints, unexpected challenges (like reading a sentence backward), and even cartwheels—don’t worry, they always ask if participants are capable first.

You’ll burn calories competing, but also cheering for your team. The energy is contagious.

🏅 Why it’s a workout:
Between sprinting, laughing, and hyping up your teammates, this is another full-body workout disguised as pure fun.

Other Workouts We Didn’t Get to Try (But You Can!)

With a packed three-day schedule, it’s impossible to do everything. Here are a few physical activities we didn’t get around to—but were definitely tempting:

  • Line Dancing – We got a preview during morning ceremonies, but full choreography sessions were offered.
  • Mat Pilates
  • Rope Climbing
  • Morning Hikes
  • Walking – The property is massive, so even walking around counts.
  • Stand-Up Paddleboarding
  • Kayaking
  • Pickleball

Final Thoughts: Say Yes, Try Everything

If you’re attending your first Camp Social, my biggest advice is this: go in with an open mind.

Tubing was something I’d never tried before—and now it’s one of my favorite memories from camp, made even better by sharing the experience with a friend.

With so many activities to choose from, boredom simply isn’t an option.

As always, keep seshing in 2026, friends!
